This partnerships will be a collaboration between two very different schools new to European collaboration and mobility. It will involve Monnet-MERMOZ's Première STIDD students and Year 11, 12 and 13 students of KNBS. They are on average 16 years old. Modern foreign language teachers in both schools initiated the project and teachers across the curriculum including arts, technology, music and science will be actively involved. The focus of the partnership is on the ever-growing importance of modern foreign languages for both staff and students; the opportunity to harness ICT and develop new learning materials. Our central theme will be sustainable development. Monnet will contribute its expertise in renewable energy, vulcanology and aeronautics. KNBS will focus on sciences and cultural diversity through subjects like food technology, music and arts. The schools met through eTwinning and have started their cooperation already through a visit and using the eTwinning virtual classroom. Through the project students will benefit from authentic communication and cultural enrichment thanks to real-time chat lines and videoconferencing. By sharing the activities via eTwinning's virtual classroom and Skype, we will develop more motivating teaching methods, both in English and French. Teacher and students will collaborate remotely and build on this with the exchange visits. The partnership will help students and staff become more European in their outlook. It will drive an exchange of expertise and good practice. For student it will raise their aspirations in terms of study and career prospects and demonstrate the benefits of languages. This work will enhance the image and performance of both schools through the development of language learning and European exchanges.
