SATCHEL project focused on improving the capabilities needed for active citizenship of older adults especially in the context of co-housing and other types of communities build by the seniors themselves. The project supported the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for learning, focusing on engaging seniors in using digital technologies to generate their own individual life histories and the histories of their communities, and stories on the perceptions of growing old as a member of a community. The project partners represented three different regions, Nordic (Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Finland), Atlantic (City of Manchester, United Kingdom), and South (Citilab, Cornella de Llobregat, Spain). All the partners are members in the European Network of Living Labs. During the four international workshops the goals of the project were processed actively together. Methods used were: customer-driven co-design, site visits, lectures, reflective discussions, creative workshops and citizenship empowerment. Between the workshops each partner worked with own tasks locally. The quality of life and smart citizenship for older people was improved during the project. It was achieved with increased digital skills and interest towards ICT, via new contacts and friends internationally, and by making more known the learning opportunities, participation and scope for the action of the seniors. The results and outcomes of the project were the following: 1) Individual life histories in an on-line open access archive 2) On-line exhibition of multimedia learning materials 3) A tool kit of digital technologies for seniors 4) Plan for a senior co-housing community to be built in Manchester 5) Multimedia presentation in English on the history of Loppukiri (Final Spurt) in Finland: How to build a community of seniors through co-housing 6) Exhibition and public event on the results in Helsinki Finland in spring 2015
Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu toimi SATCHEL-hankkeen koordinoijana 2013-2015. Tuotettiin: 1) Yksilöiden elämäntarinoita (videoin, valokuvin, musiikilla, blogein) internetiin 2) Hankkeessa käytettyjen digitaalisten oppimismateriaalien kokoelma internetiin 3) Digitaalisten teknologioiden työkalupakki senioreille 4) Toteutussuunnitelma Manchesteriin rakennettavaa seniorien asumisyhteisöä varten 5) Englanninkielinen esitys Loppukiristä teemalla ”Miten rakentaa seniorien asumisyhteisö?” 6) Loppunäyttely ja yleisötilaisuus Helsingissä keväällä 2015
