Challenges beyond my own small universe

Our title is 'Challenges Beyond My Own Small Universe'. As a partnership, our aim is to expose children to a wealth of activities which will enrich their own personal experiences and lives. We live in a world dominated by multimedia and whilst this has a valid and valuable place in our society, children are often blinkered and do not experience opportunities outside of those that focus around computers and technology. Our challenge in this project is to show this generation of young people that there are many activities that can enrich and influence their lives, encouraging them to embrace tasks that will have a positive and motivational affect on their future. The essence of the activities will be fun, creativity and skills development. For example, challenging pupils to learn and share a song or dance, to more physical tasks such as trekking or camping over night to watch the sun wake up. This in turn will promote children's interest in the world around them, being less egocentric and valuing the extended society beyond that of their own personal experiences. The project will also offer pupils the opportunity to develop their independence and creativity through an entrepreneurial task. Teachers across the school are positively encouraged to become involved in the project by sharing their own skills and interests with pupils. The use of multimedia will still play an important role.. As experienced etwinning partners, we value the platform that this offers to share information across the partnership and we see this as an integral role in the success of our aims. The outcomes of the project will help pupils to understand and experience challenges that they may otherwise never be exposed to, cultivating and creating a more inquisitive and searching mind.
