    Against Exclusion

The project "Against Exclusion" brought together a Learning Partnership that worked closely to activate socially and culturally excluded groups. The project worked with teachers/trainers and disadvantaged adult learners and provided different opportunities and tools to engage these learners through various forms of art, drama, theatre and crafts. The idea behind the project was to use the various forms of art, drama and crafts to explore the different cultures existing among the individual partners and to encourage teachers and learners to examine methods of engagement and motivation. To accomplish this, the project partners worked together and achieved diverse outcomes: four theatre workshops; a workshop on encaustic technique; different workshops on speech training, impromptu speaking and improvisation theatre; a final event - the performance "Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark" by the Italian group "Compagnia dei Girasoli" during the International Biennale XI Theatrical Meetings "Therapy and Theatre" in Łódź; the e-book "Inclutivities", a collection of games, exercises and activities for use in art therapy and training programmes for groups of marginalised and excluded persons; the DVD "Project in Motion", containing the video documentation of the activities carried out during the project; a flyer; a final brochure entitled "Against Exclusion: a 'heptalogue', or play in seven acts", which documents the project and all its meetings in the form of a play; the website www.againstexclusion.eu, which depicts all the information and results of the project. The partners became acquainted with each other through personal exchanges during their mobilities, and had the chance to share learning methods and experiences. We think that the Learning Partnership "Against Exclusion" made a valuable contribution to the exchange of experience and the acquisition of alternative learning and engagement methods, particularly with regard to learners with special needs.

During the fourth meeting in Italy, the partners were invited to take part in a two-day theatre workshop together with two different groups of users from local psychiatric services. During this workshop many theatre exercises where introduced, with many different focuses; all of these exercises are collected in the e-book "Inclutivities", produced by the partnership within the project and accessible on line.
