To understand today's life by discovering our old European Traditions

In a world that wants to standardize us, it is important to recognize our own origins, the distinctive characteristics of our people. Awareness of diversity allows us to recognize the originality and richness of each culture. But in the analysis of the characteristics that depend on the history of each country, we can identify the common traits between populations of the same continent. This multilateral partnership of five schools of different grades is based on the heritage and traditions of each of them in order to make students recognize their roots and subsequently to compare them with other civilizations. Each mobility was focused on a common topic, chosen by every host country, so: wedding for Turkey, medieval legends for France, old jobs and typical recipes for Portugal, masks and costumes for Italy, popular dances and songs for Romania. Students developed all the topics by carrying out some research, interviews, by reading documents and by listening to many direct witnesses and then they made a product as the outcome of their researches, which was presented to their partners in the hosting country. During every mobility we were totally involved in the chosen theme by attending simulations, shows, workshops, historical celebrations and theatrical performances. The main motivation was the need to live in a society that is more respectful of cultural and religious differences. We have been led by the idea that even though we are so different, we also are so similar. So this project has been essential to grow as European citizens, for students to be aware of their culture and express it in different ways, to develop citizenship skills and of course to improve language competence in English, since it has been our working language.
