    GREEN BUILDING

This project aims at studying different ways of planning, designing and constructing in Europe. It will start with a study of the geographical, environmental, climatic, and historical factors which determine the choice of different architectural styles. In our time building, whether concerning homes, commercial or public structures is facing enormous challenges. It is challenges by climate change, scarcity of resources, the necessity of energy saving and the increasingly occurring natural events such as earthquakes, enormous rainfalls, heat waves or storms. People in different areas of Europe are challenged by different problems . But what are the differences like? And what do all the Europeans have in common? For this project we succeeded in finding partners from eastern (Romania, Bulgaria), northern (Sweden), central (Austria) and southern (Italy, Turkey) Europe - looking at Turkey as a whole sharing this program. The main goals of our project will be to analyse the situation in the countries and areas participating in respect to the problems mentioned above and to compare the solutions already found in safe and sustainable building . Sustainable means for us to consider the topic in ecological terms such as site selection concerning infrastructure, traffic links (public traffic) and landscape protection. But Green Building for us means to look for examples of good practice in constructing passive and low-energy houses, applying solar architecture and thermal insulation, it means space-saving building and using of non toxic renewable material as well. In comparing all this research we will always focus on local and regional identity. At the end we intend to present different solutions and plans carried out by our students and to design our ideal green building.

  • Booklet of Green Buildings

Each country contributed examples of actual green buildings from their homeland and sent them to the Swedish partner. The Swedish partner designed and published a booklet containing these examples.
