INCLUSIVE - Involving New Communities of Learners Using Socially Inclusive Virtual Environments

Our project is a Grundtvig partnership with the several participating coming working towards a common objective: to engage and support adult learners and trainers experiences with e-learning through the use of social media technologies. With this project we wish to examine using field research the most common problems for adult learners and teachers and see how the use of leisure-based technologies like social networks could be transferred into the adult learning environment. Using common ICT skills, we intend to develop methodologies for making e-learning more attractive to adults, maintaining a friendly online environment intended to foster close ties between trainers and trainees. We intend to provide adult learners and teachers the with the right information to help them with a more efficient use of mass media technologies. We would like to improve the teaching and learning process, comparing different pedagogical online strategies in European countries so that we can help the cognitive, personal and social development of our adults. To this end, we will jointly design and produce a questionnaire to evaluate problems faced by adult learners, capture their proposed solutions and examine the way they view e-learning. A web questionnaire aimed at companies will also be produced to assess how they see e-learning courses and how e-learning impacts their training needs. Based on the results of the two questionnaires, a common matrix about e-learning training courses for creating specific online content and a detailed check-list to guide best practice in promoting use of social networks for language and ITC learning will be created. We will conduct a web-based seminar on practical approaches to e-learning with its presentations and conclusions recorded in an e-book.
