European Banck of Time Based on Senior Volunteer

Senior BoT Project, promoted by the Municipality of Carballo (ES) and Sud Est Donne (IT) has pretended to give a quantum leap of local volunteer activities based on each Bank of Time that both entities have been developing in the last years. From these activities, developed with great success at local level, the project has provided an opportunity to 12 people over 50 years of both countries (6 per country) to understand the culture, history, traditions and the reality of these countries through the activities of the volunteers related to daily life services during 3 weeks. This joint initiative has allowed developing the personal, social and intercultural skills of the volunteers contributing not only to offer new learning opportunities for elderly people of both countries but also promoting the concept of “active ageing”. Additionally, for the promoting entities, it has been a first experience of European collaboration, which will be expecting to continue in the future further more exchanges between both entities involved. In fact, in 2013 a proposal has been applied in the "Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs" Programme and soon it will be apply a common proposal in "Daphne" Programme, about the fight against the violence to minors and women.
