Partnership Around Continuous Training of Teachers

The partnership aims to allow the partners the opportunity to share experience and practice in the continuous professional vocational training of people in the labour market. It focusses on the education sector. This project has arisen from the lack of standardised training of teachers across Europe post initial qualification. The partnership shares the same objectives that are to address the needs of those employed in the labour market and determine a best practice model that can be applied across the EU to improve and develop the competencies of those working in schools. The partnership is made up of 6 partners whom all represent either the training providers or the employers in the sector, the inclusion of both the industry sector employers (world of work) and the vocational training providers is hoped to ensure that the needs of the labour market in terms of models for training and content for training can be met by the training providers and any gaps or challenges can be rectified in the best practice solution developed by the partnership. The project will take place between September 2011 and July 2013 and consist of best practice exchange visits, research and mapping of the current baseline of provision across Europe and dissemination events used to pull information gathered together to influence local and regional decision makers in education authorities as well as highlighting the model of best practice to other vocational training providers and employers in the education sector.
