The Organic Music Guide Through Europe In our Learning partnership we aimed to explore cultural diversity within the field of traditional music in the broadest sense. Multiple individuals helped chart a map of the European musical landscape. At first this was to entail the regions and countries were our educational partners were from. But it is our understanding that the project will grow organically and thus a growing number of partners will join from various countries. The project was not seeking a scientific empirical or absolutist stance, we are musicians, producers & curators. The aim was to gain experience and to exchange ideas i.e. to work together & through working together to learn together. A further goal of ours was to find out how musicians & producers with varying cultural, social & generational background come together in order to work & exchange ideas. The project was not only about a common production. Key to the project was the process of the presentation of the works. It is the presentation & the format in which it is presented that creates the intercultural & generational dialog. It was therefore of great importance that an audience was to be part of this dialog to create the right environment for the learning process. It would be this space or situation, where mutual understanding & an insight in other cultural traditions can foster links between different social & generational groupings on various levels. This project can lead to the fostering & creation of a common European identity, which celebrates its diversity, cultural or social as its fundamental principle. By focusing on tradition & cultural diversity we specifically looked at the culture of migration within the various regions & countries of the partners looking at it from various angles from European internal migration to migration from afar. This was very varied with partner countries having different immigration/emigrational history due to i.e. colonialism or communism/capitalism.
