“A Teenager’s Antivirus, i.e. ways of handling threats of the contemporary world”

Observing young people’s behaviour around Europe reveals some alarming phenomena: adolescents turn to negative patterns of behaviour like early drop out from school, juvenile delinquency such as smoking or alcohol because, among others reasons they don’t have the appropriate motivations and support they really need in order to overcome the difficulties that emerge. “Antivirus in teenage life-Ways of handling threats of contemporary society” is a project which aims to increase preventive measures and provide students with skills enabling them to cope with difficult situations like problems with their peers, self-assessment, problem solving, career choices, overuse of internet and development of their personality. High school age is a time of strong identification with a group of peers so such contacts are of vital importance. Our goal is to provide “a bag of ideas” – an antidote with examples of interesting free time activities, like sports games, educational trips, art workshops, volunteer work, music concerts and to encourage active participation of all partners. Approximately 30-70 young students aged 13-16 from the various schools, will be actively engaged in influencing their peers by using multimedia presentations, films and printed documents to share the results of their research, strengthen bonds between students and therefore improve the way teens function within a group. Consequently, they will promote positive patterns of behaviour, help in making right choices and encourage others to undertake accepted social behaviour. Some of the products that will be produced are films, leaflets, a dictionary on everyday expressions, powerpoint presentations and work of arts. The participating countries are Poland who is the coordinator, Germany, Hungary, Spain and Cyprus.
