    Growing Together as Europeans

Our project is to establish a sensory garden with Special Needs pupils in each of the partner schools, which will also benefit the whole school community. We want the children to develop an awareness of their own environment and to become aware that they are also part of a wider European community. To this end, they will plant bulbs, herbs and flowers, study the bird-life in their area, learn to appreciate the sight, sound, touch and uses of water and incorporate art work made from recycled materials in to the garden. Each of the gardens will be shared with the other partner schools through use of art work, photographs and ICT, especially the e -twinning portal. We envisage that the sensory garden will be a lasting end product of this project, for future generations of school communities to enjoy.

  • Development of a sensory garden

Each school designed and made a sensory garden to help address some of the sensory issues experienced by children with special needs. The children worked in the garden planting, weeding, making bird feeders, wind chimes and in our case, sensory boards.
