    Rural Opportunities for Organisations in AgroTuristical Systems - ROOTS

    Social and economic conditions in rural areas represent a disadvantage for people living there as regards access to information, education and wealth generation. Different approaches to life and difficulties of communication between generations put a special stress on development and development strategies. Taking these into account, the main objective of the partnership was to further intercultural dialogue and understanding by helping people in geographically and socially disadvantaged areas to become involved in rural and agritourism activities based on knowledge, understanding and respect of cultural differences. Specific objectives: - to raise awareness in rural areas of good practices in other European countries concerning behaviour of clients and providers, customer attention, services, quality and promotion. - to preserve the family unit in the rural environment by involving in the economic activity all possible family members, without discrimination of gender or age. - to provide a possibility for transnational exchanges, visits, and work practice for young unemployed and/or socially excluded people. The project was aimed at: a. Identification of main characteristics in rural and agritourism development in order to face cultural differences b. Analysis of needs and problems and finding solutions; c. Elaboration of suitable training models, agritourism marketing models and tools d. Facilitation of intercultural exchanges, especially in the field of culinary art, as a part of national culture e. Development of an agritourism network and of a learning community The partnership impact targets: A. learners: increased skills, enhanced knowledge, understanding and respect of cultural diversity, encouraged people to adapt to the new economic conditions, personal achievement, learned best practices applicable to the family business B. community: top to bottom impact on local economy and community, a “shop window” for local culture
