The partnership was developed during the first contact seminar in Latvia. The aim of the partnership is to promote the intercultural dialogue between Latvia and the Czech Republic, to create a positive attitude to other cultures (dances, folklore, music and songs), to facilitate language acquisition, to learn the Czech language and for the partners form the Czech Republic learn Latvian, to improve English language skills, to understand a way of thinking and interests of pupils from other countries, to find a common language for pupils and teachers through dancing. The main partnership activities were: language learning and dancing as a means for international communication because dances are a peculiar language which speaks, involves in activity and helps to communicate with people who speak different languages. During the pupil group exchange dancing couples from pupils from both countries were made. As a result a common Latvian and Czech folk dance performance was staged and performed in both partnership country capitals, old people`s homes and homes for the disabled. 6 Czech folk dances and 4 Czech songs were learned. The project`s diary, concerts` video records, a photo gallery, new national costumes were made. Pupils` parents and grandparents as well as representatives from municipal institutions were involved in the project. The project had an invaluable impact on pupils’ intellectual development and helped them to learn traditions of the Czech culture.
